I'm really impressed with Steph's analysis. (is she on here yet?) #Pinterest is mostly shoppable and sponsored content. Social media should connect us with other people and their ideas. It's more fun, and healthy that way.

I would love to see this kind of analysis of #facebook, #instagram, #tumblr and #bluesky #sewing #knitting #fiberarts

I don't get why social media is so hard. all people want is

• the polished Ul, video hosting, and large user base of a VC startup
• the ideological commitment to openness of a bunch of leftist hackers
• moderators that act with clarity and have a well listed set of rules
• but that also kick out people that fail the vibe check even if they haven't actually broken any rules
• without actually having to pay money for it or look at advertisements

My Firefox addon got approved! It ensures i.imgur.com, preview.redd.it, i.reddit.com and media.tumblr.com actually send you an image when visiting links instead of redirecting to a page with a bunch of proprietary javascript!

So, for all of the #django and #wagtail developers out there who would like to see more integration between the existing web and the #fediverse, could you all please take a look at https://github.com/wagtail/wagtail/discussions/9732#discussioncomment-13650918 and give some support for this idea?

Looks like #tumblr is (again!) dialing back its plan to integrate with AP, so maybe this would bring some more interest into other alternatives.
