I'm excited to announce that @dan and I have been working on a new non-profit, Rootstock Northwest, with some folks in the local food industry: https://rootstocknw.org

We have three goals:
1. Give fresh produce to the food insecure in our communities.
2. Support local producers and farmers to invest our community food chain
3. Deliver direct to homes to make fresh, local food accessible for all and minimize overhead.

We believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, high quality food and that we can simultaneously feed our communities and support local food chains by delivering produce to directly to those in need. With the current government instability, it is more important than ever to ensure the most vulnerable are fed and that our local food ecosystems are strengthened.

I've been getting so much interest in this concept! I've even started tasters already. But I've called it The People's Tech not just because the people - and not governments and corporations - should have control over their own tech, but because I want it to be controlled by its workers and even members. I'm a graduate of the School for Social Entrepreneurs but I want to be part of a democratic #NonProfit organisation and that means a #cooperative model. I've facilitated tech workshops for years but finance/accounts is hardly my biggest strength. If you're in #England, have such skills, are passionate about alternatives to #BigTech, and would like to be part of a part-time, remote, #Covid safer, scaleable small tech co-op, let me know! I guess I ought to add #FediHire to this, even though I'm not technically "hiring" anyone! Feel free to boost.

I've submitted my resignation letter to Apple. My last day will be this Friday, October 31st.

I'm starting a nonprofit company to create FOSH (Free Open Source Hardware) assistive consumer electronics, focused initially on assistive consumer electronics for blind people. I plan to release many small intermediate products for the maker community.

I plan to start working full time starting November 1st at Brain Computer Enterprises, Cooperative Inc.
