YouTube used an AI smoothing filter that made the videos look like they were AI generated, and didn’t tell Beato, Shull, or their viewers that they were doing it. They only admitted to it after the two made videos proving it happened, later claiming it was only a 'limited test'.”

YouTube is now using AI to alter people's videos without permission. (There are threads about this at https://mastodon.content.town/@operationpuppet/115640694705318541 & https://mastodon.nzoss.nz/@strypey/115598837629003478 etc)
This is really disturbing and dangerous. It's more insidious than censorship because viewers cannot tell a video has been altered.
If you post to YouTube, I'd strongly recommend you start ALSO posting to PeerTube, either on your own server or a public server. There's a complete guide here:

Credo che la qualità delle conversazioni qui sul #fediverse dipenda proprio dall'assenza di algoritmi che pompano o nascondono i messaggi sulla base degli interessi politici e commerciali di un qualche miliardario.
Gli sfigati che si atteggiano a guru su #twitter, #facebook, #linkedin etc, sono simili a zecche attaccate ad un craken. Non cercano interlocutori, ma followers. Non hanno niente di originale o utile da offrire, per cui hanno bisogno di persuadere il proprio ospite a dargli visibilità.
Alcuni anni fa, un idiota del #PartitoPirata italiano, all'obiezione che usare #facebook legittimava e rafforzava la #sorveglianza dei simpatizzanti, mi rispose: "Io l'algoritmo lo assecondo".
Ma sono molti quelli che blaterano di #privacy o sicurezza informatica su #youtube...
Sarebbero patetici, se non fosse che chi li segue li crede competenti e li prende sul serio.
Invece sono dannosi.
Qui sul fediverso la fuffa annoia.
E non c'è nessuno a pomparla o a pompare le risse per tenere la gente attaccata.

Just stumbled into an example of #YouTube AI Slop generation in progress. Happened onto a recent (posted within the last week) video purporting to tell of a notorious "deleted scene" from the classic film "Forbidden Planet" (1956). It was obviously AI generated with the typical AI still image manipulations and voice, and never actually showed the scene. However, over the next hour YouTube offered me what seems like dozens of variations of this same video, shorts and non-shorts, all with nearly identical narration, none actually showing the scene, and with posting dates as recent as an hour ago -- many without any views. These still seem to be churning out as I type this -- all on ostensibly different channels containing similar content. Multiply this by all the possible ways this sort of AI Slop could be generated in relation to the vast array of possible content sources, and you see how #YouTube is rapidly become a deep pit of garbage. There is still lots of wonderful stuff on there -- it's still my favorite streaming service by far -- but AI Slop is making finding the worthwhile content ever more difficult. AND GOOGLE DOESN'T CARE OF COURSE -- 'cause an ad is an ad and a click is a click.
