Social media update (Movingish/Go Follow)
Ok, been trying a few new social medias out, and have very quickly come to decisions. Holos isn't for me, Loops is a great idea, and Wafrn is awesome. So, if'n you're following me here...
This place for the foreseeable future will be where I post my long blog entries, as well as where I follow Diaspora users ( @xanni any chance you have an AP account?) as well as my RSS feed reader.
@chuff will become my new main social media
@Vextaur will stick around, and hopefully the upload problems will be fixed so I can post my short videos, usually commentary on something work related
@taursndhaus will be shutting down soon
@Chuff will be going soon too
The specialty accounts here ( @taurnation and @recall ) as well as the Admin account, @capitan until I get my own hosted Wafrn instance.

So why's Holos going so soon?
Really as I've mentioned, its not for me. I really recommend it for those whose social media is done through their phone, only one device is supported, and your phone/device is the server, you connect to the rest of the Fediverse via a relay so the only data that's anywhere other than your phone is the boosts, likes and friend requests from the Fediverse that came in while you were offline.
Why Wafrn?
Amazingly enough despite being so young, its very polished, and somehow manages to have a lot of that Tumblr feel. Plus I love how posts are displayed there, along with the silly extras. Once I figure out how to link people to just post groups like I do categories here, I'll likely pack this place up, but that could be a while.

By the way, you can try to install #wafrn that is both an activitypub server and a PDS.
I think it's still relying on BS infrastructure pieces though but it's interesting.
What basically drive me away from atproto is the fact that is complicated to understand also for us technicians.
Here i host my mastodon/gts/snac and that's it, all the pieces of the stack together, in popular opensource software.
I can explain in 5 minutes what is a fediverse instance to whoever

On the #Fediverse, the most likely solution would be #bookwyrmsocial, https://joinbookwyrm.com/ but there isn't any link inside it to the #atproto . Nevertheless, there is now a reliable Fediverse's software natively integrating both protocols: #Wafrn, https://wafrn.net/. The ideal solution would be to let micro.blog, Wafrn and Bookwyrm work together to build a global integrated tool. We can dream about it but I haven't seen any announcement about that yet.
so I'm at work right now and can't exactly dedicate the time to researching it at the CURRENT moment but does anyone have any resources to explain how exactly the fediverse works and how to connect different instances together? im coming from bluesky which i have come to understand is not even a truly federalized network. anyways also some good instances for me to join? i wanna meet new people and get involved with communities but i wanted to ask the community here for some tips 😁

So one can post on both networks simultaneously?
Now with corrected colors! Thanks to all who shared it wide, it got very far!
- it was shared far more often than last time
- everyone is so nice
- #Bluesky was not more popular than last time, but it's still first
- the diversity is great, but the range of reachable networks seems not bigger
- with #Wafrn there is an interesting new one in town, and it seems to get traction (https://wedistribute.org/2025/10/wafrn-chaotic-good/)
