Great little video by John Oliver about AI. One thing he did not get, however, is that also the comments are likely AI generated...
Now you can have a discussion about the usefulness of AI for all kinds of stuff, but to me is is disgusting that Meta is deciding to feed their users this stuff. When it comes to social media, I would think that most people are interested in what their friends have to say or what people they follow have to say. AI generated content is not that.

Problem with shim apps is, you need access to the API.
With the advent of AI, the socials have gotten very protective of their hoard (not for privacy reasons, but ca$h)
Eg. #Facebook kept moving the API so developers had difficulty to keep adapting.
#reddit made API so expensive that third party clients were priced out.
For a "Universal social" app, that aggregates Facebook, X(/spit), Insta etc ... You need an API and they would cut you off if the aim of the app is to migrate their precious users.
Be prepared. Winter is coming.
Check list for disinformation media warriors...
- Get the hell off #X. If you are still on X, stop here, because you are not really a serious disinformation warrior.
- Get the hell off #Threads, #Instagram and #Facebook.
- Get the hell off #Substack. Good options are #Ghost and #Beehive.
- If you need to be on #Bluesky because all the cool kids are there, at least create an "insurance" #Mastodon account and reflect your thoughts here.
