Slowly working my way through the prototypes of my upcoming designs, yesterday with the second sea slug magnet!
I’m super happy with it, though I might adjust the shape of the foot flappies a bit.

Coral reef collection should arrive mid to end of September!

I made myself another Vampire Lestat band merch tee!

First I sewed a teeshirt using grey marl jersey, then cut out the vectorised designs on my Silhouette machine & ironed them into place.

The tour dates were SO fiddly to weed - 4-5 hours each! 😭

A grey teeshirt is on a an ironing board. On the back of the shirt in white HTV is “The Vampire Lestat” and a long list of tour date locations in two columns. Red glitter state abbreviations are partially in place next to the city names, along with a pair of scissors and a ruler.

@evacide that is the same reason quite a number of people do #fibertart #knitting #sewing etc. Keep it up! 💃Gowns to the rescue!

I sewed a simple summer shell top using the Cashmerette Club Thorndike Tank pattern. Luckily, I had the perfect fabric in my stash!

It may be simple, but it's got lovely details throughout - fully faced edges and a back button closure. Perfect for summer!

I’m trying to really interrogate what I get/want to get out of sewing. I love that feeling of lost time, of absolute absorption, of complete mastery and the pleasure of finishing a project completely, and setting it aside absolutely finished (something that was not part of my life in my career, where nothing ever really ‘ended’).

And for some reasons, I feel like all machines somewhat get in the way of that. #sewing #kimono #haori

Part of my thinking has to do with trying to understand myself. In truth, I sew better by hand than with a machine. I always feel like machines ‘take over’. I have never found a comfortable speed for the machine sewing. It always feels like it’s racing ahead of me. I’ve pissed around with the speed screw on my foot pedal on my sewing machine, but even at the slowest setting always feels too damn fast. A serger is going to be the same. #sewing #kimono #haori

One of the aims of this project is to challenge my finishing skills. Because the seam finishes are going to be visible through the fabric, and like viscose, this stuff frays like crazy, everything will require a french seam. Luckily, Haori sleeves go on straight! I am going to attempt to strictly match the fabric pattern at the joins and I have just enough flexibility in the pattern to do this. #sewing #kimono #haori

Random #sewing question for the Fediverse. I know I have to wash and dry these fabrics to shrink them, so no cutting until that is done. Do I cut off approximately the amount I need before washing, or should I just wash the entirety of the fabric I have (too large, but not much larger than required fabric -- 2 yards of the outside and 2 yards of the liner fabric. I'm going to go outside - Pokemon, inside - black nylon/poly)?
