Two months ago my elderly neighbour fell and broke her pelvis. She managed to crawl inside to the phone, but it took five hours for an ambulance to arrive. Five hours!

Once in Dunedin Hospital she spent two days in the A&E corridor because there were no beds available in the wards.

Our public health system was much better than this, not so very long ago.

A friend had a 12 hour wait recently, including having to wait outside in the cold because there was not enough seating inside and there were 77 people in the ED already. Upon being seen they could only prescribe painkillers and said go home and come back if it gets worse. "And wait another 12 hours?" "Yes, sorry". Now has to wait for a doctor's appointment to get referred to a specialist while in excruciating pain, taking panadol for pain releif, earliest appointment is in two weeks, all other doctors are in the same boat.

No leader condemned the bombing yesterday and what #IsraelTerroristState did?

"For the second consecutive day, the Israeli army carries out a series of airstrikes targeting the European Hospital and its surroundings in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.

Yesterday, Israeli occupation aircraft launched intense airstrikes targeting the hospital and areas nearby, killing 28 Palestinians and injuring dozens more, including journalists."

During a press conference organized by the European Hospital, Dr. Imad Al-Hout, Director of the #Gaza European #Hospital, announced that the electrical and oxygen systems had suddenly stopped working, threatening the lives of patients and the injured inside the hospital.

He added that medical staff were unable to operate on the wounded from the renewed airstrikes and transfer them to Nasser Hospital.

The operating rooms were also completely out of service, and the hospital reported that several departments had been severely damaged and cracked.

Texas Senate Approves Legislation to Clarify Exceptions to Abortion Ban. But Experts Fear Confusion Would Persist.

Following ProPublica’s reporting, Republicans acknowledged women were denied care because medical providers were unsure what Texas’ abortion ban allowed. But the new legislation doesn’t remove what doctors say are the biggest impediments to care.
