@Alice Yuppers, definitely American style bra size. I was wondering, why’s Alice posting her boob size? #wtf

Just got asked to sign an open letter to OpenAI asking for transparency on their announced restructuring. You’ll hear about it soon enough, no doubt, given some “big names” are attached to it.

While I agree with the premise of the letter, there’s no way I can sign it after seeing the level of cluelessness and perpetuation of harmful assumptions regurgitated in it. It’s depressing to see those supposedly pushing back against Big Tech’s AI grift having themselves accepted the core myths of this bullshit.

It starts:

“We write to you as the legal beneficiaries of your charitable mission.”

What charitable mission? Are you idiots? You’re talking to a ~$4B organisation.

“Your current structure includes important safeguards designed to ensure your technology serves humanity rather than merely generating profit…”

Oh, really, that’s news to me. I guess I must be missing how their current bullshit serves humanity.

“However, you have proposed a significant corporate restructuring that appears to weaken or eliminate many of these protections, and the public deserves to know the details.”

Ah, so they’re removing the smoke and mirrors, is that it?

Then a bunch of questions, including:

“Does OpenAI plan to commercialize AGI once developed?”

You do understand that there is NO path that leads from today’s mass bullshit factories that are LLMs to AGI, right? None. Zero. Nada. You’re playing right into their hands by taking this as given.

“We believe your response will help restore trust and establish whether OpenAI remains committed to its founding principles, or whether it is prioritizing private interests over its public mission.”

What trust? You trusted these assholes to begin with why exactly? Was it the asshat billionaire founder? How bloody naïve can you be?

“The stakes could not be higher. The decisions you make about governance, profit distribution, and accountability will shape not only OpenAI's future but also the future of society at large.”

Please, sirs, be kind.

No, fuck you. Why are we pleading? Burn this shit to the ground and dance on its smoldering remains.

“We look forward to your response and to working together to ensure AGI truly benefits everyone.”

🤦‍♂️

Yeah, no, I won’t be signing this. If this is what “resistance” looks like, we’re well and truly fucked.

@jeffjarvis#WTF while this a horrible development, it is also not a surprise at all. I'd expected this since the election of the orange fuhrer. Hopefully, the people of the Late Show will be able to excel for the remaining shows and be even more political than ever.

@Techaltar not even a hashtag or a link or a name. much?

Write better.

@jpmens Number 63 is dns.google. people use Quad9 to ask for the IP address of Google Public DNS.

Ich habe gestern gelernt, dass ein #Bewohnerparkausweis in #Berlin 20,40€ für zwei Jahre kostet, also so 2.8 ct pro Tag. Macht lächerliche 2 Mio. € Einnahmen/Jahr.

This is something you need to read in order to believe

subject: VoLTE
provider O2 UK
nightmare: infosec

Enormous. Outragerous are some of the words I would use. Take you time to read and learn because they are not the only culprits on the planet with such bad data protection practices

Excerpt

>>

Quite quickly I realised something was wrong. The responses I got from the network were extremely detailed and long, and were unlike anything I had seen before on other networks. The messages contained information such as the IMS/SIP server used by O2 (Mavenir UAG) along with version numbers, occasional error messages raised by the C++ services processing the call information when something went wrong, and other debugging information. However, most notable were a set of five headers near the bottom of the message:

SIP Msg
...
P-Mav-Extension-IMSI: 23410123456789
P-Mav-Extension-IMSI: 23410987654321
P-Mav-Extension-IMEI: 350266809828927
P-Mav-Extension-IMEI: 350266806365261
...
Cellular-Network-Info: 3GPP-E-UTRAN-FDD;utran-cell-id-3gpp=2341010037A60773;cell-info-age=26371

Synthesised excerpt of IMS signalling message for demonstration; not a genuine IMEI/IMSI/cell ID.

Two sets of IMSIs, two sets of IMEIs, and a Cell ID header. How curious…

Sure enough, when comparing both the IMSIs and IMEIs in the message to those of my own devices, I had been given both the IMSI and IMEI of my phone which initiated the call, but also the call recipient's.

The webpage is titled "Voice over LTE (VoLTE): Expose Customer Location Call Routing" and includes a table of contents with sections such as "Introduction," "O2 UK," "Signalling messages," "What I'd like to see change," "Conclusion," and "Notes." The "Introduction" section is expanded, providing a detailed explanation of VoLTE, its benefits, and the challenges it presents, particularly in terms of security and IMS implementations. The text discusses the increased complexity and device interoperability issues that have historically caused trouble with IMS implementations. The page also mentions the responsibility of mobile networks to ensure that their servers are up to date and secure, and that their configurations do not lead to unnecessary data leakage. The webpage is part of a blog, as indicated by the "MX Blog" and "MX Forum" links in the browser's address bar.
