Hey just a friendly reminder since folk are doing flu and covid vax rn to not forget about TDaP! Many places recommend a fresh boost if you have a tetanus exposure and its been at least five years since your last one, and it should be boosted every 10 years regardless. While people associate tetanus with rusty nails and barb wire fencing, it lives in the soil. So if you play in the dirt (looking at cavers, gardeners, outdoorsy folk in general) you may be due sooner than you think. Folk like us often have abrasions or cuts on our hands from doing things, and then shove our hands into dirt and mud. Keep that in mind! Plus it seems like every other winter there is a new whooping cough outbreak and thats the P part of TDaP so its an easy one to forget about but a good one to stay up on.
Now that you are protected, go flip some rocks! (And make sure you gently put them back!)

#Evidence based medicine in the age of influence.
"...Social #media influencers are a popular source of #health information to millions of people—and they are increasingly a more available and trusted source of help and advice than doctors..."
Just seen another article published on "osteosarcopenic #obesity"...
What about "cardiorespiratory osteosarcopenic obesity" or "urodigestive osteosarcopenic obesity'?
When people thinks that, in #geriatrics, 1 plus 1 gives 2...

Your reminder that COVID is still around. If you're able to mask, please do-for your own health, and also as a way to show care for those around you this festive season.

You’ve heard me voice the standing suspicion that one of the deeper reasons we have such a hard time as a society reckoning with the reality of #care and the needs of caregivers is the degree to which these things involve literally dealing with shit.
This issue is glancingly alluded to here, in an otherwise decent-for-the-NYT piece on the structural crisis in care. I wish someone with credibility would take it on more plainspokenly, though. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/24/opinion/caregiving-crisis.html

Great article on #frailty !!!

Caught a little #Thanksgiving spirit today! 🦃🐾
👟On my way back from Dunkin’ this morning, I heard a familiar meow along the Northern Strand in Malden. It was our local feral cat, clearly putting in a breakfast request.
🐈 I went home, grabbed some kibble and water, and headed back—only to run into a few neighbors already on their way with wet food. This cat’s got a whole fan club.
😸 Looks like she’s got Thanksgiving covered.

I recommend (re-)reading the article MTinetti & Terri Fried wrote more than 20 years ago (2004): The End of the Disease Era ( https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(03)00666-1/abstract )
