Answer: Because most #doctors who see patients all day know nothing about #COVID & even less about #longCOVID. They are ~17 years behind #scientists. If they were at all familiar with the #science they'd be wearing #respirators.

So, we're looking for ways to prevent chickens from catching a respiratory disease, but not humans? This very clearly shows that the government's priority is 'the economy,' not citizens. You and I can get sick or die, but not chickens.

Vague posting to protect privacies.
A friend recently teased me about avoiding Covid. "People aren't really dying of that any more..." My response: "Mostly we just stopped writing that as the cause of death." He shrugged.
Week later, different friend. His wife: fighting bad cancer. She got pneumonia and #Covid. Went to hospital. Things went downhill, there. She's gone now.
I'm sure it doesn't say Covid on her death certificate.
I'm also sure community apathy around Covid shortened her life.

Hey, fellow #CovidIsNotOver folks! How do you distinguish/define different environments in which you might take different levels of precautions? For example, in order from least to most risky, I might say:
Outdoors (nobody within 10ft / 3m)
Outdoors (some people within 10ft / 3m)
Outdoors (crowded)
Semi-enclosed spaces
Indoors (good ventilation/filtration)
Indoors (bad/unknown ventilation/filtration)
Indoors (crowded)
For context: I'm once again trying to make a checklist to clarify what "I take covid precautions" means to different people. Part of that is, "What precautions do you take in various scenarios?" I know a lot of people don't mask outdoors, or wear different respirators in different environments, or avoid some environments entirely. I'm trying to find a balance between "sufficient detail to be useful" and "too much detail, nobody will bother." Thank you!!

Heartfelt earnest thanks to the ever-increasing number of people in my life who are down to take #COVID tests to increase the number of spaces I can be unmasked indoors, y'all are the best 🥰
Please spread the word! Many people who are wisely avoiding #Covid are being shunned by their families this Christmas.
6 Covid safe adults in #Toronto are invited to attend Christmas in my home, because I have no family either. 🙃

Testing out my new #Aranet4 on the train today - not bad!
I bought it to keep an eye on the c02 levels in indoor public spaces so that I can make an informed decision about whether to wear a mask, open a window, or in an extreme case: encouraging a venue to install better ventilation (or something like a Corsi-Rosenthal box).
(I'm less interested in the c02 levels themselves and more interested in it as a proxy for risk of airborne respiratory infections such as #covid)

Update: the insurance person figured out that it was the family deductible that was still $1,000 which is why insurance didn’t take more off.
But she was lovely and found me a way to get a co-pay card for Paxlovid through the manufacturer - I used it and it made the medication FREE. From $1,000 to $0.

In a twist of irony - I apparently picked up #COVID on the day of my #US naturalization ceremony.
Went to the doctor today where I got tested and diagnosed - all good. Insurance covered it, I paid $40 co-pay.
They prescribed Paxlovid. Great, definitely want to take it.
Went to the pharmacy, they tell me the 5 days of it will cost $1,777. I nervously laugh, telling them they need to make sure to run it through insurance.
They take my insurance, and say “that’s strange, it’s still really expensive”. New total: $1,000.
They try to add a discount code, but it cancels out the insurance, so the total is $1,500.
I ask if there are generics - nope, not available. I double-check my plan details: I’m $100 away from my deductible and the plan covers basically all prescribed medications. Pharmacy is in-network, supposedly.
Anyway, now I’m home and trying to call my insurance and wondering how in the world people are being made to choose between higher risk of hospitalization and paying $1-1.7k for five days of medication with a private insurance plan.
At least I got to pick up more KN-95 masks to wear while I’m contagious….
