One of the tough things about losing a unified social media (the site formerly known as bird) is that I have to work a lot harder to reach enough audience to fill my poetry project.

It would be easier to just write fewer poems. But I would rather reach the hearts I can.

#Queer #rechten zijn sluipenderwijs echt achteruit aan het gaan in #Nederland.

In januari van dit jaar haalde ik mijn nieuwe ID en paspoort op met "X/X" bij "geslacht". Dat was het einde van een proces dat 9 maanden en zo'n €1500 kostte en vooral draaide rond een rechszaak die daarvoor aangespannen moest worden. Ik hoefde niet voor te komen, de rechter behandelde mijn aanvraag als een hamerstuk.

Volgende week ga ik met een vriendix mee, voor emotionele ondersteuning, omdat hen wel is gevraagd om voor te komen om in persoon hun verzoek voor een "X" te beargumenteren. Het is onzeker of het zal worden toegekend door de rechter.

Dat is bij dezelfde rechtbank. Met dezelfde advocaat die mij ook had vertegenwoordigd. Met dezelfde argumenten en documentatie. Wat een jaar geleden nog een uit de losse pols goedgekeurd hamerstuk was, moet nu voorkomen zonder enige garantie op succes.......

Goal: $23/$500

So I have a big favor to ask: help me make part of my portion of the rent this month. My total portion of the rent is more than this, but my partner can cover the rest as long as I can meet $700 a month. My unemployment insurance will run out soon, so I'm trying to stretch it for a few months, and I can do that with your help!

I am preparing to apply to graduate schools for a masters in social work or a masters in clinical psychology. I am also working with limited spoons from disability and burnout after losing my job earlier this year. With your support, I can focus on my grad school applications and still have capacity to return to writing regularly! If I can't meet this goal, I will need to find at least a part-time job and probably be too stretched thin to write again.

Stop 'joking' or otherwise implying/claiming that every politician/religious leader/person with social and/or financial power doing anything queerphobic "must be closeted".

It minimizes the fact that systematic harms exist because the people participating in disenfranchisement and societal abuse gain from them.

It perpetuates the idea that being queer is a bad thing (saying ‘well I’m just saying it because they think it is a bad thing does not undo the fact that you just made a bigoted joke/comment! you don't just get a free pass to be a bigot because the person you are talking about is one!)

A lot of people legitimately take it as a reason to have sympathy for the people you are talking about. I can't start to count how many times I've seen people respond to jokes about bigots being queer with "it's funny- but why else would they do this?! They are awful, but imagine hating yourself that much, really it's just sad!" Do not risk giving these assholes sympathy!

Even if the person IS closeted, that doesn't matter! It doesn’t nullify the harm they are doing or absolve them of horrible abuses of power!

These comments derail important social conversations with bullshit assumptions.

We don’t need to try to hypothesize why people hoarding power do things to take freedom (and with it power) away from whoever they can- the answer is right there in the question.
