LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a measure establishing public funding for charter schools is unconstitutional, affirming that state funds “are for common schools and for nothing else.”

The state’s high court ruled the “Constitution as it stands is clear that it does not permit funneling public education funds outside the common public school system,” Justice Michelle M. Keller wrote in a unanimous opinion.

but outside of this very specific application i've put a lot of thought into, in general it's something i want the language to support for me. after all, what i describe above is quite literally a compiler-supported coroutine. it's just for my own compiler over a language described as a grammar

you can of course match the equivalent of an a.*b regex by hand. and this is in practice e.g. how my SIMD zip parsing works. but it would be super neat to generalize this and formalisms can light the path. this is why i (as usual) reject placing all faith in a compiler/language implementation of coroutines, because it's quite often that application-specific constructs cannot feasibly be supported by the compiler.

@scottjenson Hey Scott! I'm so glad you're tackling this issue. I have lots of trouble with DMs on Mastodon. I think you're addressing, these, but here goes:

The biggest one is how easily they're confused with regular messages. I routinely mess this up, and make private messages public, or vice versa.

The next is how hard it is to visualize threads - especially in the existing notification section. I often lose my place in complex discussions

We suddenly went from a core of about 8 activists to 200 people, and it felt great to suddenly have massive growth, but the veteran campaigners cautioned is that this growth literally guaranteed that we were being surveilled, and we approached new members with caution. We kept tactics, planning and intelligence to the original core, who had known each other for years, but we STILL assumed we were compromised, and proceeded on that basis, taking great care to keep to our original morals and not escalate beyond our usual extent of direct action and protest. We weathered the live exports campaign, and when it was over, numbers dropped off back to the original core. I left the area shortly afterwards, and this the group, and never knew if any of the core turned out to have been a mole... They probably think it was me considering I left...
