One thing that really pisses me off personally is the #regression in terms of #Messenger#Apps.

My personal distaste and dislike for #proprietary, #SingleVendor & #SingleProvider #services like #Signal¹, #Telegram, #Discord², #WhatsApp, #Slack, #MicrosoftTeams, etc. aside:

  • WHY is there no #CrossProvider#Messenger to handle that shite?

  • WHY does everyone of these shitty providers think people want to download their #bloated#WebApp that takes up triple digit Megabytes if not entire Gigabytes and will gobble up all the #RAM and #CPU they can??

This problem ain't new and already got solved for corporate social media ages ago! (Not to mention actually good messengers!)

So yeah, consider this a call for a @gajim / #Gajim or @pidgin / #Pidginfor garbage platforms!

  • Cuz back in the day we had way worse messengers yet people actually made #AIM, #ICQ, #MSN, #QQ, #IRC & #XMPP work just fine from one single "phat" client!

  • Can we please get that back?

Heute habe ich meine #Signal, #Telegram & #WhatsApp Communities geloescht. Vor allen bei den Meta-Produkten bin ich rigoros.

Wusstet ihr, dass all eure privaten Nachrichten dort mit einer AI geteilt werden & ihr dies fuer jeden einzelnen Chat abschalten muesst?

If you post about an ongoing event involving ICE, your post may be delayed from appearing in the general feed.

If you encourage people to assist those under threat from ICE, your account may be suspended or terminated, and your information may be forwarded to law enforcement.

Interestingly enough, if you shared the current whereabouts of someone who does not support Donald Trump — such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Jasmine Crockett — there would be no delay in Meta’s general feed.

This paints an awful image, especially since the justification for delaying posts about Donald Trump and his associates is "general safety."

Additionally, if you share any current information concerning Donald Trump and his associates, your post may be delayed from appearing in the general feed.

For example, if you saw Robert F. Kennedy Jr. eating a hamburger at McDonald’s and posted a selfie with him in the background, no one would see that you shared it for several hours.

Non saresti da solo, esattamente come non sei solo nel fediverso.

Incontreresti persone diverse dalle solite, meno conformiste, perché capaci di resistere alla paura di essere diverso o di essere "tagliato fuori" da relezioni spesso frettolose e superficiali (tanto da poter essere definite più "interazioni" che "relazioni").

Perché a ben guardare, chi non si può sbattere a scriverti una mail o contattarti via #Element/ #Matrix o via #XMPP, evidentemente non ha grande interesse a comunicare con te.

E d'altro canto, rinunciando ad uniformarti, apri la strada ad altri che non penseranno più (ad esempio) "su Matrix sarei da solo" ma "su Matrix trovo Marco".

Io non uso né #Telegram né #WhatsApp e chi mi vuole trovare può scegliere fra email, Matrix e XMPP. E se vuole chiaccherare in pubblico, anche il #Fediverse tramite alla mia istanza #snac2 da cui ti sto scrivendo. E indovina un po'? Sono vivo è ho una ricca vita sociale.

Bei #facebook bin ich mehrfach weg und wieder hin und wieder weg, bis ich beim letzten Mal, als #meta #threads in #europa frei verfügbar machte, mit gezwungener Kopplung zu #instagram, bei Facebook genau die Gründe bestätigt sah, warum ich dort weg wollte. Und Threads war der pure Horror. Einzig #whatsapp habe ich noch lange verwendet. Bis vor kurzem.

Es sind zumeist die Freunde, die Bekannten und die übrigen Kontakte, die einen zurück halten und die einen Weggang schwer machen. … (2/2)
