The Loops alpha release is nearly ready, just take a look at this demo.
Loops = Fediverse TikTok
Join the ethical and open source short video sharing revolution ⬇️
Made a lot of progress tonight on the new Loops webUI, specifically comment threading + reports.
Top level comments that get deleted are replaced with tombstones IF they have at least one child comment, otherwise they are fully deleted.
And yes, comment likes + reply likes are coming too 🚀
Loops includes comment like counts + comment reply like counts in the video post like count.
We aggregate them because it makes sense for our context, and algorithms.
They will soon be aggregated for all your videos as account likes that appear on profiles ✨
we actually getting a federated tiktok before gta6
#loops 🚀
Your data belongs to you, period.
Loops makes it easy to export your data ✨
You can also set automatic data retention limits.
No vendor lock-in. No surprises. Just complete control over your information.
Available soon on https://loops.video + https://github.com/joinloops/loops-server
My goal is to make the Loops webUI simple, familiar and efficient.
This means adopting HLS and re-transcoding the 20K+ videos on https://loops.video
Along with a new data-saver feature, this will reduce bandwidth significantly across web and apps and make videos load way faster by automatically switching between the optimal resolution based on your network connection.
It may seem like a small or boring improvement, but it will be noticable ✨
Just submitted a grant application to fund creator monetization features for Pixelfed and Loops! 🎉
Think: direct micropayment support for photographers and content creators, not ads or data harvesting.
Building sustainable funding models that put creators first ✨
More details soon.

"Needs more treats in the navigation menu"
- Jake, VP of Product Strategy
Your Loops data belongs to you, and while we don't yet support account migration or imports, we will support exports ✨
We will publish the export schema in our documentation so other fedi developers can implement import functionality if they desire.
That's what makes the #fediverse so special, data/account portability 😎
