Still waiting for the browser UI of the "loops" service. Seems like the focus is still on Pixelfed, which is totally fine.
Is anyone aware of any plans when the UI which was shown earlier this year will be in place?
You don't need a Loops account to browse, take a look ⬇️
Coming soon to a server near you 🚀
I want to show you a demo of how easy Loops handles onboarding.
We display the Follow button, and when not logged-in, we present the webfinger address that is easily copied, or you can join.
From browsing to signed-up in a minute 😎
Hello Loops ✨
I just deployed the first production Loops server, the install guide will be ready soon.
Real world testing is crucial, the new Loops webUI isn't working properly in some browsers, so I am working on the fix!
I'm aware that there are high expectations for Loops, so it's vital we resolve any bugs and make the platform as stable as possible before we put it into your hands.
The thing is though, there are several projects for servers out there. As a decentralized FOSS project, you don't need to rely on one source for either servers nor clients.
I don't know anything about the protocol itself. I don't know if there's anything there that is fundamentally broken, but if it's an implementation issue, that can be fixed by others.
I use #FluffyChat for my client, and though I don't use it often, it is a fairly pleasant client to use I must say.
Will be interesting to see if #Sup is going to make any difference with this issue though, of finding a common way for the fediverse to communicate with instant messaging. But it'll still be years before we see the fruits of that initiative I think.
#Loops is still a broken mess, and they still need to maintain and expand Pixelfed. That's not a lot of time/resources for developing Sup.
Every detail matters, like how you can enable registration in Loops.
But if you never configured mail delivery, it will fail and users cannot join.
We even indicate this in the error message, email verification isn't optional in Loops, it's required. 💅

Edit: Done! https://m.yloops.com/@dansup
I'm moments away from sharing a link to the first Loops alpha server 🥳
Special thanks to @nlnet for funding, and @shlee for devops support.
Spread the word, Loops is nearly ready 🚀
Just implemented optional Cloudflare Turnstile or hCaptcha support in Loops!
We're so close to the first alpha release ✨

Almost done polishing Loops, there is a lot of really innovative features that make onboarding and sharing easier.
Can't wait to get it in your hands ✨
(Btw, the reason we have silos in the share modals is because you can easily copy the link and share to your fediverse server.)
