I want to try out a new #Mastodon client but it requires that I update my Mac to Tahoe 26. I've been told to wait for the .1 release as things are.... not great.

Curious if I'm being over cautious here. Has anyone installed #Tahoe on their #Mac and it's been "basically reasonable"?

This is my first "official" Mastodon-style quote-post.

Although, quote-posting has existed on the Fediverse for years now — on Misskey, on all the Misskey forks (ex: Firefish), on Pleroma, on the Pleroma forks (ex: Akkoma), on Mitra, on Hollo, etc.

Plus, people have been doing screen-shot style quote-posts on Mastodon (and other places on the Fediverse), too, for years.

I don't understand this quote implementation, a lot of those quotes by @dimillian are "This post is pending approval from the original author."

It must be some weird federation requirement to accept the quote until it appears, yet another "be in the biggest server, get best experience" feature.

Quote posting is here. It’s the interaction controls that are of interest to me! I wonder what clients have updated for this yet? I hear Ice Cubes allows for quotes now, not sure about these per post interaction settings tho.

Sorry to react emotionally, but I think it was important to bring this potentially breaking interaction forward.

I will bring my opinion about the network-breaking effect of such default behaviour on the web interface up with #mastodon #developers as well.

Sad to read historians.social is closing down! 🙁 Hope the active members there can find a new home in another instance.

Ersteres dient dazu, dass besonders sensible Inhalte nicht verletzbare Menschen triggern, letzteres um #accessibility (Zugang) für alle zu vergrößern/erleichtern.

Ich bin mir noch nicht sicher, wie ich die neue Zitatfunktion in #Mastodon 4.4.4. finden soll.

Die Möglichkeit, eine Textstelle ohne Kontext zu zitieren, hat m.E. auf den nazioffenen Konzern-Plattformen Shitstorms, Hass und Radikalisierung gefördert.
