I am reading a trad-pubbed mystery that keeps talking about this "articulated skeleton" as if that's a normal decomposition process and I am so confused.
The only type of articulated skeleton I've ever heard of is where the bones are held together with pins and wires to approximate where they would be in a body.
I feel like an actual editor would have flagged this immediately, so maybe there's an alternate use of the word?

Friends, Friendship. Teammates. Buddies. Partners in crime†. Frankly, I don't get it. I do the job and make sure everybody comes back. I train them until they drop in a sweaty heap, but then they insist on group meals and singing, that stuff, and won't let me pay. Sure I have everybody's back in a fight, or with clients, or the boss, but that's the right thing to do. I am responsible for them. They ask me for advice, too. Sometime weird. I ended up punching the cheating husband when he made a pass at me, which was actually sort of fun. At times they won't leave me along to be quiet with my books, which is really all I want out of life. I am really the wrong person to ask such a question to.

Does anyone know what this is?
I found it today nailed to the inside of a closet wall which is an outside wall of the house. Attached in such a way that it couldn't possibly have been put there after the house was built in 1873.
It looks like Japanese print and seems to be wrapped and stuck into a sort of envelope. It was hanging vertically from the top beam and had been there for a very long time. As you can tell from the degradation.
But what in the world is it?

Mystery abandoned car. Paper still there, hasn't been touched. Glove box is locked (reachable from the open window). May be at a standstill, apparently since it is in private property, the property owner (big box retailer's landlord) would have to get it towed and/or report to the police department, as rbe vehicle has not been reported stolen. #mystery
