I want to have an app, that helps me to lent and borrow private printed #books.
So I want to add all my books, then my friends do the same. And through the app we can see who owns what #book, arrange and track who has borrowed my books.
I found gohardcover.com/en that promises to do that, but does not work well for me.
Does anyone has an idea?
I could host a whole library system, but that is over the top.

I am beyond frustrated that if I delve outside this self-imposed blockade, all I see are glitched sites, TONS of fake garbage, and hateful trolls with nothing better to do than cause trouble.
Going now to curl up with an actual #book printed on real paper.

@castaway Sales don't change that much, but they increase, and yes I am sure there are people buying it purely because it is on sale.
I think I covered my thoughts on that in my thread. I don't think there are many careers where you are paid £2500 for three years of work but it's fine because at least it's in the hands of readers who might not have engaged if it wasn't on sale?

As well as the systemic and structural issues, part of the problem is that publishing is a numbers game: the number of people wanting to be published authors is more than the number that publishers and their markets need, so authors without a track record of success have a weak bargaining position and have little power to improve poor terms and conditions. (But it does sound like you have done relatively well with your publisher, did you have a literary agent?)
Also, a few big winners make up for the long tail of low-selling books, and editors *need* new untested authors and their books in the hope of finding their next bestselling author.
As others have said, some authors make more money from speaking engagements than their books, and use their books for credibility and to raise their profile.
