Saw a coyote on today's walk, but wasn't able to get a photo. Super cool experience though. Also some pretty #moss, and #lichen.

Tons of little moss tufts cling to a tree trunk prettily.

A red bloom from a deciduous tree. It will eventually turn into a leaf.

I stopped by the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival at the Seattle Conventiin Center yesterday. This show happens every year. It's huge. The highlight are these "show gardens" which are sponsored by various landscape industry vendors, retailers, and organizations. This one happened by be done by the Putallup Indian Tribe and it features all native plants of the Pacific Northwest. A short thread

Looking at a garden bed in a huge indoor space. All the rocks soil and plants have been assembled in a convention center hall. This garden features a wooden canoe at the far end and wool blanket draped over it. It's planted with small shrubs and ground covers

a jagged end of a redwood-type tree where it cracked in two, with concentric rings visible from the center outward, interrupted by opposing layers of fracture running straight down across the rings

a slightly-dryer fallen log, also stripped of bark, with hundreds of light black oval spots on it, still of uncertain origin, but my best speculation being that the spots mark where woodpeckers had drilled holes while the tree still DID have bark, and the underlying wood was exposed long before the bark ultimately fell away
