@urlyman As the world's climate worsens, it seems possible that there will be greater demand for cars, since they have heating and air conditioning. And due to underinvestment for a long period of time, and a focus on suburban/exurban regions over dense cities, public transit does not seem particularly viable, either.
Maybe self-driving cars and pooling will help a bit?
@jawnsy it will probably follow the curve of most aspects of modernity.

More rock on sand. The rock is still arranged in lines, but is all dark grey in colour. Moss grows on top of the rocks. Once again, the perspective is close the ground, with water and sand out of focus in background.
