Earth Star mushrooms are wonderful, looking like flowers with petals. This was the best I've seen this year.

Late afternoon Friday dog walk and spotted what looked like the yellow of dying moss on a log deep in the woods. “Wonder what's killing it?” I thought, walking by. Curiosity won out, I scrabbled through the brush and found the truth.

A moss covered log with a couple large section “yellowed” but not from dying moss, but from a very large patch of tiny mushrooms covering everything. Maybe Cross-veined Troop Mushroom

A patch of bear corn (Conopholis americana), sometimes called American cancer-root, growing at the base of a large hardwood tree in a forest.
A cluster of what I think are orange mycena mushrooms emerging from a decaying log in a forest. They are small and a vibrant orange color.

Celebrating #FungiFriday with officially the teeniest mushroom I've photographed; I'm still pretty new to real macro photography and it's proven to be quite the challenge, particularly on film, but wow is it satisfying when the effort pays off!

Hike this morning, with a fair bit of bushwhacking following new streams and interesting colors. Efts were everywhere.
Let's start with some fungi.

Bright yellow almost see-thru golden jelly fungus on a downed branch next to clumps of moss and maybe a bit of lichen.
Cerrena? A very interesting texture and coloring with a little green “forest” of fuzz on top of the fungus while underneath is a frilly/textured white.
Newly emerged button mushrooms out of side of rotting log. Maybe an alder scalycap?
Violet toothed polypore. A striped light tan mushroom on side of old tree trunk that turns to violet on the edges and then a lighter, almost white outline.
