This photo of yesterday’s sunrise pairs well with the one from Sunday (thread). I’m also slipping this in for #ThickTrunkTuesday. The sycamore on the left and the river birch on the right have grown A LOT in the 32 years since I planted them.
Oh #thicktrunkTuesday might be a good day for this photo that I took on a recent hike.
It's one of my usual hikes but clouds or fog always make it so special as the usual background is gone and I see the motives in a complete different way.
And believe it or not - I went this path over 10 times but I've never seen that tree the way like at that day.

A banyan tree in Sarasota, FL. More roots than trunk, I suppose.

A very common tree in the west, but I love everything about Populus fremontii (cottonwood) trees. I even like the snowstorm of cotton like seeds that rains down in the spring (it is messy though). In the fall, the yellow leaves contrast nicely with the dark bark. This tree is set against a background of sandstone near Utah's Capital Reef National Park.

Just before Christmas, the loggers were out in our local woods. Amongst many other trees, they took out quite a number of redwoods. You can clearly see, here, why they're called redwoods. Sadly, the woods now look a complete mess, but luckily, these redwoods behave like coppice and will regrow from their stumps.

#ThickTrunkTuesday
Bit of an old man gremlin thing going on.
For #ThickTrunkTuesday please appreciate this big old barrel cactus. I think it merits being understood as a 'trunk' even if it's not technically a tree - it's about hip-height, and its shape tell us that it has seen some things come and some other things go. Someone tied a string around it, ffs. Still, it persists.
Foggy morning, big street trees, broken sidewalks, and moss.
