This really mirrors Graeber's observations too, that is exactly what he describes with "flunkies". That's the parallel, is that AI is now the unnecessary flunky even for jobs which may themselves be useful.

Think e.g. home automation: What you are interfacing with is light bulbs, power outlets, window blinds and the like. Sitting down at a computer screen and keyboard to turn on your lights seems rather clunky, and a voice interface is most certainly easier to handle than like a thousand switches to command devices all around your house.
