Morning Sheep Time
Full house at the stables as the weather outside is a bit blowy and drizzly. Sheep like to remain comfortable and dry indoors. Hay bags have been emptied so those are refilled again. Some of the boys get a bit frisky!

I have been doing a lot of research and study on pasture management, which is a new endeavor for me. Innocently, I first wanted to learn how to improve forage quality and increase soil biodiversity by grazing rotationally (aka regenerative ranching); secondly, how to simultaneously maintain grassland for nesting, wildlife habitat, and foraging. I am beginning to conclude that these two ideas generally do not coexist in published literature. You're either managing for wildlife conservation or for livestock forage quality. On the fringes I have been able to find some basic resources, particularly in the grass-raised regenerative farming circles, that give me little drips of information about managing for both. I believe this is going to be one of those "do your best and then do better when you know better" kind of things.

Morning Sheep Time
Every morning is a woolly morning! Buster follows me everywhere, convinced I have one biscuit left (I do, but it's for the crows). Panda wants his cuddles, and as a result I smell a bit of ram. As I usually do.

Morning Sheep Time
Do you like shoving and grunting? Does the sight of wool make you happy? Would you like to see a pony who's a bit of a dark horse? If so then enjoy this morning's Sheep Time because you'll see all those things as the morning discs disappear into animals.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Panda will always need his cuddles.

Morning Sheep Time
Shoving, clonking and ram noises the order of the day this bright morning. Offered the boys down the bottom field but only the two little ones wanted to go. Panda asked for cuddles in his customary manner, a light butting to the knee.

Morning Sheep Time
Damp morning although not actively raining. Everybody outdoors, full insertion and crow breakfast. Dom the major recipient of cuddles today, albeit somewhat tentative as you can't really fully cuddle a damp sheep.

Morning Sheep Time
The weather continues smeg so it's a quick good morning to each sheep and ending with a contemplation of the Buddha next to the hay bag.
