TIL that it is the female ginkgo trees that stink in the most inappropriate way, not the male ones. And that smell is from butyric acid that comes out of its false fruits when they fall off the tree and break apart on the ground.
Apparently the foul smell is thought to have evolved to attract dinosaurs!
What's the correct term for words that are spelled the same but mean different things depending on how they're pronounced?
For example 'tear', meaning to rip when it rhymes with 'hair' versus a droplet of water falling from the eye when it rhymes with 'ear'.
And does this phenomenon occur in other languages? For something more phonetic like Spanish I'd imagine not, but would love some Spanish examples if they exist...
@blag supot in Tagalog could mean bag or uncircumcised depending on emphasis, I am given to understand. Per Wiktionary, the latter definition has a visible accent mark over the o, so not sure it counts as a true homograph.
Yes, NovelWriter and Scrivener have a lot of similar features, and a lot of great additional ones I don't personally need, but they don't have the customizability and extensibility, and the power of org-mode and full vim capabilities built in.
I dislike that my writing setup is ugly compared to something like Neo, but I get *so much* in exchange for sacrificing a little bit of beauty.

@masukomi My solution was to take the functionality of scrivener, and reproduce the parts I wanted in Obsidian.
Of course for me a major advantage of doing that for me was that I get vim functionality. And that has improved considerably with the neovim plug-in.

@Amgine my impression was that Euro-Office is trying to compete with Google Docs / Microsoft 365 (online Office) rather than build a proper desktop application (what I want). I am surprised Nextcloud invested in it given they already support Collabora Online but 🤷
Regardless I think more competition in the FOSS office suite space will be good so I'm curious what you think of it!

I didn't know there were ergonomic left handed mice. Normally the most lefties get is something that's symmetric.

For "regular" mice you're 100% right (I spent ages looking for a lefty one to bind a bunch of JOSM shortcuts to it and the best you can find are symmetrical ones - cf here: https://scholar.social/@gedankenstuecke/117331505105585171)
