My three reasons not to use Signal:

1. It only runs on Android/iOS, which I don't (want to) have. Even their desktop client needs an Android/iOS device!

2. It runs and depends on AWS. I.e. DJT could ask his buddy Jeff B. to switch it off. As #EU citizen, I prefer a local server.

3. They want a phone number to register. This makes multipe accounts for different purposes practically impossible.

Fortunately, there's #Jabber — since 1999!

After the Code of Conduct and the Mediation process, the Cooperative Development Guidelines now have a Governance Document that can be used by any Organization/Foundation/Collective/Community/Project that wants to have a governance based on participatory, equity and permacomputing/accessibility principles.

Its time for us to finally start building participatory digital commons, that are developed by the community and for the community and the Governance document is part 1 of doing just that. (Decision making and Structure will follow after this).

I am also excited to announce that @queerspark has also been listed as a collective that adopted pieces of the Cooperative Development Guidelines.

Very exciting to see @bonfire
share the work they are doing in creating sustainable commons in tech.

I am very much looking forward to networks and protocols starting to talk with each other, and building commons and bridges towards each other.

As @joinjabber we are also right now setting up our Governance to be based on sociocracy, with commons sustainability in mind and it is very encouraging to see other people also looking at what we can do above and beyond what Big tech has to offer.

That's just the "normal" #nginx domain, location and #reverseProxy stuff. I don't have a good example at hand (we have it at work, but the git is not yet public, sorry), maybe others can point to a good tutorial?

@prosodyim maybe?

(Reminder to myself: Put more $dayjob stuff to the public git. There are no secrets anyway.)
