Like so many others, I’m a refugee from Meta/X. Mastodon is giving me some hope that I might find a #community in social media. Happily married. Resident of Florida but currently on slow travel in Costa Rica. My passions are: #writing – my web site (link in profile) has info on my novels and occasional #popculture essays - #movies , #reading #fiction and #nonfiction , and #photography

I’ve been in dark places recently. I didn’t know if I was gonna make it through the holidays. Lots of depression, anxiety, and drinking.

Man, did I need a lift. And I got it.

My lovely friend @resl visited us in Portland. We met for vegan food and uplifting conversation. She also brought her rad friend @darius who I met for the first time at lunch. We have tons in common and I’m grateful she introduced us.

What a gift. This was a good day. ❤️

The company I work for is fully remote, so lots of video meetings. I began waving goodbye at their close, and now everyone is doing it, too.

This is small in the scheme of what’s happening in the world. But it’s the little things that are gonna keep us connected and encouraged in the long fight against fascism.
