Ep! el xifrat punt a punt per #RCS està arribant a iOS.
My old #Rust in #Android team just published a blog post showing Android continues to improve #security by pushing for more memory safe code: https://security.googleblog.com/2025/11/rust-in-android-move-fast-fix-things.html
The results are amazing: Android now writes more Rust than C++, and the **Rust changes land faster** due to fewer revisions and faster code reviews. Medium and large changes are **rolled back about 4 times less** than changes written in C++.
I think this is also the first time that the use of #MLS in #RCS is mentioned in a #Google blog post.
This is what I was working on as my last project: I owned the server-side code ( #Rust running inside a C++ server on #Borg) and I was responsible for designing and implementing the identity provider used on both client and server.
You will find the latest MLS-RCS spec here: https://www.gsma.com/solutions-and-impact/technologies/networks/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/RCC.16-v2.0.pdf – and I'm looking forward to when my code comes to a phone near you 😄
RCS
It made me cry a little bit inside when I discovered that AOSP's SMS app doesn't support RCS despite it being an open protocol because it relies on a proprietary backend.
So... RCS over ActivityPub when?
Does anyone know of any #FreeSoftware implementations of the #RCS encrypted messaging protocol? There is the nine year old
https://github.com/android-rcs/rcsjta I wonder if that is usable?

I'm contemplating a move back to iOS (after nearly five years on Android), and I'm very much not happy about it.
If I do it, I will use my phone as a glorified dumbphone. I'll probably get a used iPhone 12 mini, just to make sure I don't use it for anything but a camera and basic texting (and one or two incidental work-y things) — my eyes don't like small phones.
I'd miss Syncthing and termux (native and nearly feature-complete local linux userspace) the most.
The #RCS debacle was already frustrating me a great deal, and now this latest thing of making Android less and less FOSS is even more frustrating.
Egad to switch to FaceID? Ugh, that's just unthinkable. Maybe a used iPhone SE2. Such bad options. I hate the gesture navigation, too. I tried really hard to get used to it on Android, and gave up an went back to the clunky three-button navigation.
Maybe I'll switch to stock Android and learn how to disable the more odious googley things, but that's gross, too. :(
So, looks like my choices are:
- Kaleidoscope unicorn vomit from Cupertino
- Gradually-sabotaged and outdated FOSS Android
- Privacy-invading proprietary Android that all but tells you to install an authentication dongle up your butt (that'd be Meta's version, for sure)
- Nigh unusable and buggy and/or limited Linux phone
- Go live in a cave
Maybe I can get a local realtor to show me some nice caves close to town? XD

As with any command, one of the first things you should do is type
git --help
read what is said about the syntax then type
man git

Git is a tool I like, a lot. Before git, you could do RCS {& some others} which is a totally different tool set.
In this video Linus Torvalds talks about the way he created Git two+ decades ago.
What immediately Springs into view, is the fact that Linus gave control of the git project to someone else, as soon as he could he did not want to stay with the project for too long.
Git was created because of pure necessity; it was vital for kernel revision control
