I've been on the lookout for interesting hashtags to follow and participate in related to my interests such as photography, generative art, music, etc. Something like #WaterfallWednesday would involve mining my archives, and I'd run out before long unless I got out to some of the local ones. I suppose maybe that's the point. Anyways, here is a cool waterfall I found deep in a side canyon on my self-supported Grand Canyon rafting expedition in January of 2015.

A portrait orientation landscape photo of red sandstone cliffs leading up up and up higher. It is deep in the Grand Canyon. There are some small shrubs on the lower portions where it is damp, but it is very arid further up away from the river. A bit of blue sky is seen above, and a small waterfall is pouring down in the middle of the frame into a cold, surprisingly deep pool that will work its way down to the main flow of the Colorado River. There are some precariously stacked boulders at the top and side of the falls. It's humbling and a bit concerning to think about the intense flows that must have been required to move those into place. Also, about how there are probably very few people on the planet who have seen this waterfall due to how it is both extremely difficult to access and not notable enough for anyone to seek it out specifically. This was shot handheld with a Fujifilm X-T1 and an XF 18-55 lens at 20mm, f22, 1/8s, and ISO400. Yeah, I accidentally bumped the aperture ring off of automatic, so it's got more depth of field than I probably needed, and a bit more diffraction noise than average, but it actually looks pretty good printed large, as I gifted a framed print to my cousin.

Horsetail

Seljalandsfoss is usually busy; it's a popular place and very accessible due to its proximity to the main Route 1 ring-road.

Because of photos of this falls taken at sunset, it felt as if everyone was there at once to see the fabled spray rainbows. You can just see a double bow here.

A cave offers some access behind the drop, and you can see some people there in this shot.

Gorgeous Dynjandi, jewel of the Westfjords. Its white water wedding veil is ≈ 30m wide at the top and 60m at the base.

A zoomed shot from halfway up the path shows the top viewing platform, the railings about waist-height. I waited for someone to arrive and lend scale, but I was impatient to make the climb.

Finally...

We tried to visit these gorgeous waterfalls in October 2016 and in November 2021. Even in a 4WD vehicle we were forced to turn back - safety always comes first. The dirt road to this magical place is hazardous, to say the least, and we were frustrated by the icy conditions.

Not this time.

This is an urban waterfall that collects street runoff water in Everett and diverts it to a wetland where the water can slow down and get filtered before entering the Snohomish River. I took this picture shortly after a heavy downpour.
The waterfall structure is part of a pedestrian bridge over the railroad.
