Water, the magical element to life! It can turn our negative feelings into positive and our physical pain towards healing. Whenever you need a little boost, just take a drink, or better a visit and best to soak. Wash away, let go and recharge. Have you ever thought its purified taste is perfect? Thankful to find such a blessing and resource to share.

Could have placed this on Wednesday as well 😍

This 100+ meter waterfall in the Gältebach comes down from the flanks of the Wildhorn.

As one of my friends said: here they could shoot a scene from the Mandalorian.

Golden Ice

Early March, and our hotel manager stopped us as we were going for breakfast. "You should stay safe in the hotel this morning, there's a big storm coming."
So we did, and after we'd watched it rage past on its way north, we followed it cautiously.

Fitted with crampons, carrying ice poles and linking arms against the wind, we visited Gullfoss (Golden Falls) and had the place almost entirely to ourselves.

A close-up of a collection of huge icicles, capped with snow, at the edge of the waterfall. The turquoise spikes are layered one upon another and have formed a massive ice chunk which has then had a heavy dusting of snow. In the foreground, the water is surging past.

A side view of the drop into the canyon. The gorge is deep and quite straight-sided but with clumps of ice near the waterline. The opposite banks of the crest are sheer but slightly shelved, with ice and snow gathered on every horizontal surface. Part of a natural rock platform is visible at the lower left and, incredibly, there are footprints in it even though the top of the path to it is blocked.

A close-up of the crest of the falls, at the point where it drops to the canyon floor. The foreground is a dangerous-looking ice cornice overhanging the near bank of the ravine. It's covered in snow. At the point where the falls crest there's a large clot of ice and snow, and the turbulent waters behind it are turquoise.

A colour photo of a large waterfall, with blue water cascading over the lip of a canyon. The landscape around it is completely covered in snow and ice but dark rock shows through in a few places. A fenced path snakes down a steep hill towards the lower part of the falls. The sky above is grey and full of snow cloud.

An early morning alone on the banks of the (still young) Isar river some weeks ago... Really more "flow" rather than #WaterfallWednesday, but I just absolutely cherish places and moments like this & feeling so privileged being able to experience these after decades of living in large cities... (each time also a reminder how much we stand to lose...)

Rock Fall

Although it might seem quite small, this lovely waterfall is actually 15 m/49 ft high. The end of the cascade is in a valley which has been filled with tumbled rocks, and this huge boulder plugging the final drop fools the eye into seeing a much smaller feature.

Just behind it is a second drop of 9 m/30 ft which can just be seen in the third shot.

The final colour photo of the falls is a side view taken from the riverbank. The gravel basin of the stream is in the foreground and the waterfall is on the right. A person in blue clothing is standing amongst the boulders of the riverbed, giving scale.

Another colour photo this time taken about halfway towards the falls. The rugged and gnarled rocks of the canyon sides can now be seen in more detail. As well as the boulder plugging the canyon over which the water is falling, a second drop is now visible behind it.

A colour shot of a distance view of the same falls. This viewpoint is much further back and away from the waterfall, standing next to a rushing stream of water. The mossy cliffs on either side of the falls are now seen more clearly. The sky is overcast and grey.

A colour photo of a close-up view of a beautiful domed waterfall. The water is white and streams over the surface of a huge rounded boulder. On either side are cliffs and a mossy green bank can be seen behind it. A stream is running away from it and towards the viewpoint.
