This is part of the Gore Mountain Range north of Vail, Colorado. The lake is Piney Lake and is at the trailhead of Upper Piney Trail which I hiked last week to a series of cascading waterfalls. Look who’s dining out! The largest animals, by far, that I saw on my adventures in #Colorado were not on a trail, but next to a house in a neighborhood that abutted one of the trailheads. While walking to my car after a hike, I saw four #moose (two in pic) chomping on some delicious shrubs and trees next to the house. 🤣 This is a zoomed in photo— definitely kept my distance. #wildlife #nature #photography

I took this photo last week while hiking on the Upper Piney Trail to a set of waterfalls. After hiking past Piney Lake and along an open meadow with a view of the Gore Range, I entered a forest at the base of the mountain ridge. The trees varied in species from aspen to evergreen. This was my last decent view of the valley in Silverthorne today as I descended on the last hike of my trip to #Colorado. This was a very scenic hike as we hiked partway up a pass along a stream to a series of waterfalls. It’s been a great trip! Went to the top of a mountain the easy way today—- on horseback! Rode through beautiful forests of aspen and evergreen trees on the way up and back from the summit which was a large open meadow with views of distant mountains. A great day! #Colorado #mountains #horses

In the spirit of #WaterfallWednesday, I hiked into the mountains outside Vail today to a series of cascading waterfalls! Here is one of the waterfalls (left pic). To take the pic, I needed to scramble down a steep class II/III rock formation (pic on right by Lori H.). A beautiful hike including views of an expansive meadow and mountain ridge. #Colorado #mountains #waterfall
