Can #Jami #P2P #VoIP be used in #China?

I'm outside China, need to speak (voice calls, texts) with someone inside China. Until now, used #WeChat, but now it says our versions are incompatible for voice calls, & neither of us can update WeChat.

(Online info I can find is several years old.)
