Announcing AMPS (Asynchronous/Audio Messaging to Podcast System)
AMPS converts Telegram group conversation audio messages into a single, processed audio file to be used as a podcast.
AMPS is three Python3 scripts. AMPS works with Telegram group chats. However, future versions may support other instant messaging platforms.
Reminder: TeleGrab is effectively unencrypted and you might as well use plaintext direct posts in the fediverse. Cryptographers have been poking holes in TeleGrab's limited, crippled "encryption" for years. Here's an example from 2022;

Since everyone is talking about #discordalternatives Ive been using #matrix via unredacted.org as of late and #simplexchat is another one I'm hoping to see catch on but that one is more like #telegram but I see potential in that one as well. since they are decentralized or peer to peer based and of course open source I hope those become the defacto communication apps of the #opensource world

TeleGrab is not a good option.

The recent announcement by Russian authority Roskomnadzor regarding tighter restrictions on the use of Telegram will cause a shift in communication protocols among cyber threat-actors. We may see an increased adoption of alternatives such as Tox and its variants, Wickr, and more widely used platforms like Signal.
We all need to be staying ahead of the evolving threat-actors; otherwise, we risk falling behind.

While I do have some gripes with notifications and threaded discussions in the Element client…
My loathing of Matrix is less about the technology, and more about having yet another place to follow discussions. I can only follow so many separate places to have discussions, and matrix doesn’t seem to add much value.
I’d much rather try to make discussions work better HERE, instead of moving everything over to Matrix 😇
@benpate yeah. I understand completely and I feel the same way that the space for communication tools is over saturated. But I do see a value in #matrix for private communication. Private/Direct #messenging in the fediverse is not good and I feel it would take a huge effort to fix it. At the same time there is in matrix already a separate solution that gives me hope about replacing #whatsapp #signal #telegram etc in a way that more aligns to my values and overlaps those of the fediverse.
This analogy will become our motto: big tech social media is the new tobacco.
