In response to an actual threat from a centralised service being used for discussion of a particular privacy and security focused project, I set up a secure p2p chat group using #Jami yesterday. It quickly had five users and continues growing.

Already one person is pasting swathes of text from DeepSeek and following my complaint about that, another suggested he set up a Google Drive for sharing such stuff. 🤦‍♂️

These are #privacy aware people. We don't stand a chance.

@delta right now i try to find a good method to decide whether to go for #deltachat or #jami . the included video chat in Jami is definitely good to have. Anyone already compared those two ?

Is it similar as the solution developed by #Jami #hubzilla #simplex or #nostr ? A kind of p2p with relay network?

@lxo sadly i don't see nor #xmpp nor #jami grow.

We need a #signal kind of decentralized.

both XMPP and JAMI work with IT people but not grandma kind of one.

and @delta where too hostile, when i pointed out some of shortfall of their UX (people that do not accept constructive critisism deserve the worst).

I'm outside China, need to speak (voice calls, texts) with someone inside China. Until now, used #WeChat, but now it says our versions are incompatible for voice calls, & neither of us can update WeChat.
