Today I visited Oleg Salynk, age 28, from #Kherson —a #humanitarian volunteer who embodied courage, compassion, and an unforgettable sense of humor.
Oleg welcomed me during both of my trips to Kherson in 2023 and 2024. He always said to me with a smile, “It’s ok, bro,” as we practiced translating English and Ukrainian.
🙏🏽 I would’ve traveled here for no other reason than to honor him.

I am a little sad that there is not a CBC headline/alert for #TomLehrer passing away.
Tom Lehrer was kind of the proto-Stephen Colbert and all the other public performing satirists. Just with a piano, instead of a full music video.

I met Olie when he helped us put on a J Day event when I was living in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and active with NORML. He and his crew brought their sound system and tunes down to Frank Kitts Park and played throughout the event.
We didn't stay in touch but he was clearly a mainstay of the electronic music underground in Aotearoa. What a huge loss.
