1/2 Update: Volunteering and Reconnecting in #Kyiv 🇺🇦 True Friendship
Today, during my fourth visit, I joined friends at Kitty Pechersk, helping weave camouflage 🕸️ nets for frontline defenders. It’s one of many ways this volunteer hub supports the #community —through aid, outreach, and care.
My Ukrainian friend Olena, who I met on a previous visit, helped refresh my memory on net-making. A day marked by teamwork and smiles🙂

Sunset in Kharkiv🇺🇦 🌇
I arrived safely in Kharkiv. It’s evening now, and the sunset was stunning—soft light across the 💫 skyline, even as air raid sirens echoed in the background.
It was a long ride. Time to rest.
I’ll post updates tomorrow. Wishing everyone a peaceful night. 🇺🇦

🇺🇦 Midway to Kharkiv: Dyakuyu (Thank you).
Just taking a quick break for ☕️kava and reflecting on this trip. All of your messages and well wishes mean so much. They’re a powerful reminder of how many people stand with Ukraine.
🚌 I’ll be in Kharkiv in a few hours and will post an update.

1/2 🌅🇺🇦 Odesa #Sunrise | Before the Work Begins
It’s my first day of humanitarian volunteering in #Odesa. I got up early to catch the sunrise before the work begins.
In every city and village I visit, I see Ukrainians striving to live with dignity and normalcy—even under daily attacks. That is a profound form of defiance, a refusal to surrender to terrorism. But let’s be clear: Russia’s targeting of civilians is a grave violation of international law. The cost is real. The trauma is daily.

Today, I’ll be connecting with Coast of Life, a grassroots Ukrainian group supporting frontline defenders with trench candles and warming balms. Their work is vital, a small act of care that brings a morale-boost with each delivery.

The peace process is fragile. Putin is betting on division, but unity among allies can preserve the rules-based order that has kept the world secure for decades. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/editorials/2025/08/22/trump-ukraine-peace-process/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #editorials#ukrainerussiawar #donaldtrump #vladimirputin#volodymyrzelenskyy #shigeruishiba
