It's already been awarded to a war criminal (Kissinger), a genocide apologist (Aung San Suu Kyi), and a head of state who bombed many counties & assassinated people (Obama).
The whole thing is a performance of geopolitical hegemony, by elites, for elites. Nothing about what's happening around it recently is unusual.
