Judge Menendez asked the lawyer for the #Trump admin whether the surge in #ICE enforcement would end if #Minnesota, Minneapolis & St. Paul changed their #immigration policies to the president's liking. The lawyer said he could not commit to that. [Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.] I think she is trying to ascertain whether the operation is in fact retribution & not about policy.

Judge Kate Menendez turned to #Trump’s post on Truth Social stating, “GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING.”

“What do I do with that?” she asked.

“I don’t think that would negate the fact that there is legitimate law enforcement activity going on in #Minnesota,” said #DOJ attorney Brantley Mayers.

#Federal ofcls sought to portray #AlexPretti as a domestic terrorist, saying he had approached agents with a “semi-automatic handgun” & the intent to “massacre” them. But videos analyzed by NYT contradict their account. They show Pretti holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, when agents take him to the ground & strike him. One agent appears to remove a gun from near Pretti’s right hip [holstered]. At the same time, another agent draws his firearm, points it at Pretti’s back & repeatedly fires.

#Federal officials released images of a handgun they said #AlexPretti was carrying. The #Minneapolis police chief said he had a valid firearms permit. Open carry is legal with a permit in #Minnesota.
