With many people cancelling their streaming services, we want to point out that many of the films in our library stream for free!

They may be on free platforms like Kanopy, or the filmmakers may put them on YouTube or Vimeo. Some filmmakers also offer special free educational licenses or even packages.

The educational game in our collection called "Walden, a game", also offers a free version to educators.

How to find our free films
1. Check out the films in our resource library.
2. Look for viewing details in the "Where to Watch" section of a film's page.
3. If that takes you to a link on JustWatch.com, make sure to adjust the site to your own country settings for local results.

If you have questions about our films and film guides, please ask! We're here to help and we love connecting people with great films and teaching tools. 1/2

August is American Artist Appreciation Month! We’re celebrating Corita Kent, also known as Sister Mary Corita! The acclaimed artist and teacher used painting and calligraphy to convey ideas about peace, racial harmony and social justice.

Lesson 3 The Power of Corita Kent’s Calligraphic Art in our free Rebel Hearts Curriculum Guide features a hands-on Visual Arts lesson suitable for grades 9-12 based on Sister Mary Corita’s artwork. It’s a powerful tool to help students find their voice through multi-media artwork.

You and your students can learn more about Sister Mary Corita / Corita Kent, her revolutionary protest art, and her time as a nun in the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with award-winning documentary Rebel Hearts and the Rebel Hearts Curriculum Guide.

Inspire civic engagement in your classroom and community with Resisterhood! Today we're highlighting Dr. Jean Gearon, one of the subjects of our new documentary Resisterhood.

Jean is the great-granddaughter of one of the original Suffragists in the United States. Jean founded a grassroots political group that's involved in local and state politics, as well as the fight to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) — the same battle Jean’s great-grandmother fought more than 100 years ago.

Teach about grassroots organizing and activism, the Equal Rights Amendment, gender equity and civic engagement with Resisterhood! For grades 10-12, higher ed and adult learning. It's great for campus screenings and community education!

Could anybody use a pick-me-up?

Golden Age Karate is one of the most uplifting films in our collection. It's about Jeff Wall Jr., a real-life teenage hero, who uses his natural talent for martial arts to help people. It's super sweet and soul-feeding.

It's just five minutes long and you can watch it for free!

We also offer a mini-discussion guide for educators who'd like to use it as a classroom warm-up or creative writing prompt.

Check it out in our library to get free streaming links plus the free discussion guide. 1/2

Meanwhile, children are brainwashed by their cryptofascist parents and the #BrokenTimes treats them with kid gloves: "End times on the horizon or not..."

@jeffjarvis Oh, please. #Homeschooling is far more complex and diverse than either you or the #BrokenTimes are recognizing. There have always been secular homeschoolers (for instance, my family) and I’d be curious to know how growth in that sector compares.

Also, you and the people quoted in this article may be surprised to discover how hard it is to brainwash kids. 🃏

STEM teachers, did you know that we have film-based lesson plans for STEM classes, too? Many of these lessons can work with showing just scenes of the film or without showing the film at all.

Check out:

Calculating Orbits for Space Travel - Hidden Figures

Chinese Number Rods - Please Vote For Me

Echolocation Class Activity - Whale Rider

Generating Electricity - The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

Goldilocks Planets - One Strange Rock

Rainforest Ecology - River of Gold

(These are just examples, there are many more!)

Like all of our resources, these lesson plans are available free from our library. If you have questions about our materials our would like help finding something for your classroom, we're happy to help.
