I’ve asked a few times what the point and purpose of a Royal Commission in to the #Bondi events would be. The response generally seems to be an RC would be in to if there’s anti-semitism in this country and if more can be done to counter it. #AntisemitismRC

After 6 hours of watching Jack Smith's testimony, it finally dawned on me what I find so inspiring about him. Of course, it's the truth-telling, the integrity, & the utter brilliance of the man but it's also his calmness, professionalism, & unwillingness to rise to #MAGA's foolish bait, esp. King fool Jim Jordan.
& then I think of Smith's demeanor in relation to the outrageous, puerile, snotty, rude behavior of #Noem, #RFK, #Bondi, #Patel, etc.
He is a hero for our time.

My friend David is in the Canberra Times, similar to the piece I shared earlier from @timhollo - to say that the Jewish community is founded on being able to debate issues respectfully, and that he and many other Jews are opposed to genocide and have marched alongside Palestinians and many others in calling for an end to the violence in Gaza.

The worst part of Australian gun control debates are that we have a bunch of people who've never owned guns, but want more because they think it will protect them; and a bunch of dangerous people who do, who want more guns to be more threatening.
I am, without a doubt, an unashamed gun nut. I love every aspect of them, from the physical shape, through to the mechanical design. They are wonderful pieces of precise engineering.
I am also an unashamed gun control nut. I think no one, including myself, should own guns. Guns should be owned by clubs, by companies doing pest control, or the government. Anyone else owning a gun, deactivated or not, is a danger to society.
People who want guns should never own them; it's something my dad drilled into me from a young age, while teaching me about them
