Please remind me, what was that movie I wanted to watch? (Any answer welcome)
Fritz Lang's The Big Heat is widely acclaimed film noir, but I gotta say, I don't find it to be especially good
@beka_valentine
Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. I loved it.
It's the first time I saw Gloria Grahame and she's great in that role.
There is a great reference to it in Sugar. Colin Farrell's character is a PI, but he hates guns. He's also a film noir super fan.
To try and get him to carry a gun, his employer gifts him the gun Glenn Ford used in The Big Heat.
I just happened to see a popular website published their '100 Must-Read Books of 2025' and it reminded me that December is swiftly approaching and that's prime time for end-of-year listicles.
Which publications do you trust to give you a good breakdown of books / movies / music / games / etc. across the year?

Automatically blocking any account that uses Harry Potter to farm engagement. It is time to move past Harry Potter as a society, we do not need to keep maintaining JK Rowling's cashflow or propping a series that actually is not very well written and chock full of offensive racial stereotypes and literary cliches.

Hollywood’s got it all wrong when it comes to remakes. The problem is they keep redoing the classics. Big mistake. They ought to go after the bad ones and make them better. Good remakes of bad movies are “Hollywood’s greatest fount of untapped potential this side of video game adaptations and seeing what might happen if you gave Ridley Scott a kilo of cocaine,” film critic David Ehrlich writes. At first I thought #LastSamuraiStanding was just #BattleRoyale.
Then I thought it was Battle Royale meets #HungerGames.
Then Battle Royale meets Hunger Games meets #EscapeFromNewYork.
And now I'm coming to appreciate it may be Battle Royale meets Hunger Games meets Escape from New York meets #ThreeDaysOfTheCondor.
It keeps getting better and better, there is so much more to it than the pilot hinted, and I'm glad I'm watching it.
Anyway, the reason I mention this is that a few weeks ago I finally got around to downloading the latest Fantastic Four movie. I still haven't got around to watching it, and to be brutally honest, I don't know if I can be bothered.
A new MCU movie used to something I'd look forward to, going to a cinema with friends as soon as it came out. Now it feels like homework I didn't get around to doing, and I'm wondering if it's still worth bothering with. Which makes me a little sad : (

"Hold your loved ones close, and speak the words you've been afraid to speak. Use this time to rejoice and celebrate, for your time is short."
The Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four: First Steps, 2025
I always wonder whether lines like this come from the original comics.
What a turn up for the books. A few days ago I was bemoaning my lack of interest in watching First Steps, given that I was a total junkie for the Infinity Saga. I'm having a rest day today, and a bit of mental candyfloss seemed about my speed, so I finally put First Steps on, and I loved it. What a return to form.
