ActivityPub defines the social graph. It leaves institutional authority undefined - a verification badge, a moderator's standing, one instance's trust in another are all unsigned platform state. No third party can check any of it.

NOMOI is an open protocol for verifiable delegation of authority, and it needs nothing exotic here: every actor already has a signing key.

Fascinating world of ancient #glass ! A small-scale but colourful mosaic glass inlay depicting an Ibis. This inlay, originating from a workshop in Roman-era Egypt, was discovered in Tawern, near Trier, Germany.
The ibis was considered a sacred animal of Thoth, the Egyptian deity associated with wisdom, writing, and the moon.
Mosaic glass inlays were used to decorate caskets and furniture.

Hi @ccamara this is super interesting! I won't be at the conference, but I'm looking forward to hear about any follow ups on this. I have myself found the tagging proposal process difficult to understand and engage with. I guess I have in all those years gotten not further than reading some of them (thanks to @weeklyOSM ), and maybe voted and commented twice? I think it would be great to make this process more inclusive!
