Once again, 'bed wetting' is not an insult, even when aimed at awful people. I know everyone comes to new knowledge when they come to it, we're not born knowing everything and sometimes we learn things that turn out to need unlearning, but I feel like this one is pretty easy to wrap your head around?? 😑

@tinker I've had the earlier ABL-100 mentioned in the article for a year (?) and I mainly use it as a step tracker. I don't use it with the app which stores data over time online. I just use it disconnected to track the steps for a given day. Otherwise it's a typical Casio with all the various functions. Seeing this on a smaller, cheaper model is a good thing.

A good basic rule of thumb is that things that are involuntary (disabilities, deformities, natural appearance differences, illnesses, trauma effects ect) should never be the basis of an insult. Focus on the shit things people choose to do

You can absolutely create new technological advancements without needing to build in surveillance or genAI.

(Note: the step counter and bluetooth are localized to the watch. You set it up to be recorded by another app. If that other app breaks privacy and sends telemetry back to some uncontrolled centralized server, then that defeats the purpose. But if the app just records and stores locally or sends back to a controlled server, then it's chill.)

This photo I took on a field full of grasses. This farmer always leaves this land to grow like this. It is also full of life with insects, bugs, rabbits, et cetera. So for me, this is a jewel for photographing opportunities. Probably I will be back soon here for another go.
