I knew brutality of Putin’s regime from my personal experience. And that is why comrades, I just wonder – are we all on the same page here? – Putin’s Russia is fascist monstrosity of the totalitarian regime, that hunts down LGBTQ+, hunts down anarchists (case of the “Net”, Tyumen case, and much much more!), hunts down even Marxists (Case of Marxists group from Ufa). Regime which finance right wing parties and fascists all over the globe - a vanguard of ultra-right (St. Petersburg meeting of «paladins» – great example), attacks foreign countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya, Moldova, Syria, Mali, Libya, etc.) oppress its own people, censor everything, kill opposition figures, support worst religious bigotry, completely destroys democracy in Russia and tries to do it abroad. Putin’s Russia means monopolized capitalism in economy and fascism in politics. For monopolists inside Russia there is only one way to get more profits – and that is expansionism. They often cant do much against its rivals - western countries in terms of soft power, thus a military conquest of foreign nations unfortunately is a frequent option.
It is a deliberate enemy of all left, all progressive forces. It must be stopped, if you want a future without global all-out war.

Reminder: de-skilling as a trend in software engineering was already in progress well before LLMs.
Toxic productivity culture, people meeting badly-designed internal reward metrics, hopping jobs and never seeing the consequences of bad choices, plummeting quality, short-termism.
Sure LLMs add fuel to this fire, but I’m not at all convinced they’re causal.
If anything, their popularity seems more a consequence of the culture than cause.
These are all lego blocks. When you stop thinking about legos and just about how to make it easier for people to connect from the tools they feel most comfortable, you can come up with some wild, wild shit.
Something something boring infra, you'll see when we get there, etc.

People don't realize how much boring, unseen infra work goes into building a tool for agency like this.
There's a lot of cool stuff you can build for the open social web, but the industry-shaking work takes a lot of patience and "you'll see when we get there".

Every time I see a Labour Party advert on Facebook trying to tell me that the Greens are bad because of their drugs policy, it re-emphasises that the UK really needs to replace the failed war on drugs with literally anything else. e.g. a combo of American-style legalisation of softer drugs (with tax revenue from legal sale), and Portugal-style public health diversion for harder drugs—both are huge improvements on the status quo.
Not that who runs the local council has any effect on drug policy.
