Excellent article on safety and best practices for antifascist affinity groups in action:
North Lake Correctional Center Noise Demo Reportback
"On Saturday, September 6, 2025, about 200 Michiganders gathered outside of the North Lake Correctional Center for a noise demo. Formerly a youth prison, since June 2025, North Lake has become an ICE detention center operated by GEO Group, holding over 600 people captive from various ICE raids across the Midwest."

#Anarchism does not oppose self-defense or disassociation. Neither of these acts intrinsically imposes a hierarchy of command on another person. We do not establish a hierarchy, state or otherwise, simply by voluntarily organizing with each other to provide mutual defense.
#Anarchism entails opposition to hierarchy—in the very literal and specific sense of some people holding power over other people, enforced coercively. That doesn’t mean anarchism is opposed to *differences* among people, which is how some people interpret the word “hierarchy,” but specifically power imposed and sustained by violence.

Just wanted to A, give you a heads up that this is happening, and B, ask if those of you who plan on attending could keep an eye peeled for copies of #Lifehouse & give me a shout if you happen to see it there? (Sadly, or rather not-sadly but unavoidably, I’ll be in Berlin that day.) Cheers. 👊 #anarchism #anarchist #books #london

#Anarchism does not merely oppose the state, but all hierarchies—capitalism, feudalism, racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, and everything else. None of us are free until all of us are free.

#Anarchism does not imply chaos. People are capable of organizing themselves and should be free to do so. Anarchism does not oppose voluntary association, only hierarchies of power.

#Anarchism is not a rejection of the use of force of even violence. It is the rejection of using force or violence to compel other people to behave according to your will rather than their own—a rejection of coercion.
The cool thing? I’ve just found out about an upcoming Colin Ward festival (!).
The not-so-cool thing? It’s being organized by the guy who was neither an architect nor an #anarchist nor “all that much into politics” I saw speak at Housmans last week, who insisted that the tradition Ward spent his life upholding was “just commonsense, not really #anarchism.”
The shitty thing: it’s at Kairos, a venue I swore I’d never again set foot in, after my talk there & experience with the person who runs it.
