The federal investigation into the murder of Renee Good is targeting her wife instead of her shooter.
Bandcamp has posted to Reddit that they are prohibiting music that is created wholly or with subtantial use of AI on their platform. Full post with guidelines and how to report AI music.

Friendly reminder #ActivityPub protocol development will go back behind permissioned closed doors (unless you pay w3c or are deemed an invited expert) doors at w3c in the near future. RIP 2018-2025 open ActivityPub governance in SWICG.

Anyway, Imma go back to reading the news now. But you been warned.
It will surprise *literally no one* that I thought long and hard about the type that I would use for my Type Advisor website.
Very happy to finally find an excuse to use @HEX’s Margo: https://hex.xyz/Margo/ along with @JTDType’s Cresta: https://jtdtype.com/typeface/Cresta
They make a nice pair, in my opinion.
It's really frustrating that bad people can make good art. I think it's OK to like art made by a bad person, because we're not really in control of what we like or don't like. But that doesn't mean it's OK to buy their stuff or elevate them or give them a pass, at least while they're still alive.
@joshsusser notably it’s not your personal failing if e.g. you like Harry Potter books
but it is your personal failing if you start defending the terf because you somehow think the backlash is against your liking of those books
@yogthos americans have memory-holed the entire thing.
There is significant historical evidence that the US regime KNOWS there are neo-nazis in the ukrainian state, and has debated back/forth whether or not congressional funds can be used to support neo-nazis.
This info is in the US congressional record, it is in encyclopedias and wikipedia, it is published on numerous mainstream outlets including NYtimes, etc.
Americans CHOOSE to ignore this.
@Milkman76 it's even worse in Europe
The audacity of having #mozilla's "AI" strategy allude to their success in bringing down the market share of Internet Explorer, at a time when the Firefox market share stands at *checks notes* 2-4% and falling — behind even MS Edge.
Really great slam dunk folks!

Man i am so full of sodium right now.
Man, was doing some light investigation around smart garage door openers, as might consider replacing our old openers when getting insulated doors... and see that Chamberlain are still raging assholes. Sheesh. Probably eventually do genie wall mounts... want something I can without too much fuss get integrated into HA.

I still won’t recommend the fedi to anyone who isn’t white as their primary social media experience, but I will say I think this year great strides can be made to at least think about it as a possibility.
There are some really compelling projects that are maturing (GoToSocial, Bonfire) that seem to be learning from the mistakes of Mastodon, Pixelfed, Pleroma, etc.
There are some exciting developments with my projects that I’ll update everyone on when I can.
It feels like there has been a shift around the fundamental need for quality moderation and curation in the fedi as folks realize it’s been a major weakness and a primary reason folks won’t consider this space.
Of course, I can’t predict if any of these developments will make the fedi a viable option for people that aren’t white tech nerds, but I think there’s a big opportunity to change the narrative.
The big question is does the fedi want to change.
