A honey crisp apple without any pesticides or fungicides to drive off all the stuff they're vulnerable to. Still delicious and firm. Fun shape to eat.

Mildly irked that someone took the wonderfully me-coded title "Mandelbrot Hall" and made it the name of a show in a genre I will not watch
If you like cosmic horror with undergrad protagonists, well, there's a pilot coming soon

What would I do with the title?
Epic science fantasy webcomic about a math postdoc studying fractal dimensions who unlocks reality-warping powers during an accidental all-nighter. Their advisor finds out and invites them to the elite Julia Set of mathemagicians, where they learn about the many paths to power, learn how to mentor new wizards, and fight the billionaire-funded cult trying to bring about their preferred apocalypse by solving the Millennium Problems. #StoryIdeas
"… genAI bots are making it impossible for an open web to actually exist."
Sorry, Google already did that long before GenAI came along. GenAI is just dancing on the open web's grave.
What's the point of having a web site when the only browser is made by an ad company? When your entire domain will get blocked at the drop of a hat by random ISPs if some random security company decides you're doing something they don't like?

And it looks like even with an API key the Google Books API is now returning errors.

"Social media algorithms amplify right-wing content against young users’ preference"
I finally re-found this study I read a few months ago, that deserves a lot more attention. It is, in fact, the main reason we should be moving away from big-tech social media: it shows more right-wing content than left-wing content, no matter the political leaning of the user.
Propaganda works. See more of something and you start believing it. And they know it.

Carnival of Souls (1962) (cult psychological horror film)
You’re right. Democracy can’t survive the kind of impunity we’ve seen. I’d argue it goes back to the GWB torture program, if not further.
When a system can’t reliably enact justice, people conclude (not without justification) that the social contract has been voided.
It will be very interesting to see how #RuleOfLaw and #Accountabily platforms play a role in the upcoming presidential election.
I just did my favorite two guitar builds.
Can’t post pics, because the friend doesn’t have theirs yet, and it’s a surprise… and they are thematically similar.
But hooboy, these are shred machines
@thegibson One of my favorite lines from the TV show "Elementary" is when Lucy Liu is talking to Mark Boone, Jr. about a guitar. He mentions it's worth over $1million. Lucy says, "Do not tell me I'm holding one million dollars." Boone replies, "Not like you mean it."
There's an account called Vecinos which is making English-language history videos about Latin America exclusively for PeerTube.

Oompf. So Lua tables can't have nil values, which is a problem, because if I wish to merge two tables, and want to remove a value from the old one, how do I express that?
I can't use false either, because that's a valid value.
In the specific context I'm in, :nil would work, I guess...
