"Regarding the European Commission & its participation, in reality we are surprised because it does not have a mandate from the Council to go & participate," foreign ministry spox Pascal Confavreux said to reporters, referring to the Council of the #EU's members.
The #EC commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Suica, is attending.
"Our objective is clear∶ coordinated action, accountable governance, & tangible results for the #Palestinian people," Suica wrote on social media ahead of the meeting.
While Suica is attending as an observer, several #EU member states have raised concerns about an EU commissioner participating in a meeting of a body many EU governments see as undermining #InternationalLaw.
