Besides the dated Cleveland baseball team logo and name and all the "Chief Wahoo" chants in the movie, there's also the sexism, the racism (the voodoo stuff), the creepy nice guy subplot that doesn't even need to exist, and general vulgarity, but it's also like my favourite sports movie and is like the archetype for the "team of misfits bond together" sports plotline that no other movie has managed to do as well imo, also the ending is brilliant, it fits the arc of the characters as is satisfying while subverting the sports cliche in a way that makes sense
But it's a hard sell to get my friends on a sports comedy at the best of times, much less one where the fans are all in red face, one of the characters is doing voodoo to a treasure troll, & they bond over stripping down the villainess
The Replacements is a much safer and more boring version of Major League that's easier to sell to the broader audience now but ironically it's arguably even more problematic since the heroes are literally scabs
