The dodo was actually intelligent and inedible, contrary to popular belief.
They went extinct mainly due to habitat loss and the introduction of invasive species by explorers, rather than being hunted. It didn't help that they had no fear of humans, like penguins today. They were initially named
"Walghvoghel" meaning "tasteless bird" by early Dutch explorers.
