Looking into the cup, we can see that the interior is a warmer brown, which is almost a little rusty red brown The glaze that goes from brown to cyan is dipped slightly on the interior, making a small rim high up in the interior with a thin cyan ring close to the top. The piece with indirect light is mostly vibrant blues and silver greys against the gold and black pumpkin, the many other colors and contrasts come out in the light. I’ve since often taken up adding at least some contrast that’s visible all the time regardless of lighting conditions, but for this piece I think it metaphorically works.
