Both for selecting public transport backends in #KDE Itinerary as well as for @foss_public_alert_server we have the need for computing simplified hulls of geographic coverage areas. Here's how we currently do that: https://volkerkrause.eu/2025/08/30/simplified-coverage-polygons.html

As this doesn't seem to be such an uncommon problem, are there better approaches for this?
